Polymer Materials Engineering (PME) students and faculty will be hosting lab tours from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm for anyone interested in learning more about how students and faculty are working to contribute to a circular economy with sustainable polymers and composites. Tours will include viewing the hands-on lab spaces of the PME program, discussions of industry-sponsored research, student professional organizations, and a day-in-the-life of an engineering student! Highlights will include demonstrations of recycling and sustainability research, instruments for measuring properties, and polymer and composite manufacturing processes. Read more about how students collaborate with local industry partners to recycle ocean plastics into new products, how students are recycling carbon fibers from scrap airplane composites parts and hear from the PME faculty about the curriculum and other research projects.
