Computer Support
The Engineering & Design Department provides access to all software and hardware needs in the computer labs in the Ross Engineering Building. Remote desktop is also available.
Laptop recommendations:
Industrial Design, Manufacturing Engineering, and Materials Science & Engineering students:
- Operating System: Windows 11
- Processor: 12th gen i5 CPU or newer
- better - Intel core 7 ultra
- Ram: 16 GB or more
- 32 GB recommended
- Storage: 512GB SSD or larger
- GPU: a discrete GPU with at least 4 GB of VRAM is beneficial
- minimum - dedicated card NVIDIA GTX 3050
- better - GTX 4070
- best - NVIDIA GTX pro
Remote Access:
Students who have a device but can’t run required software, can remotely connect to an engineering lab computer. You can use this website: https://remoteaccess.labstats.com/western-washington-university to remotely access the ENGD lab computers.
